Logotype for

California Institute of Technology

Doyald modified the official logo of this long established international institution.

The words of the top and bottom of the circle were drawn smaller in height to optically match the size of the words on the vertical portions of the circle.

This version shows a simplified torch symbol and the text is set in Friz Quadrata, a beautiful classic Roman face design by Ernst Friz. The type style is also used for stationery, business cards, and collateral as part of the Institute’s identity program.
